Adventure Time Travel’s Anna Liptak celebrates finishing all six major marathons
travelogue
Adventure Time Travel founder and managing director Anna Liptak recently finished her Abbott Major six star journey – but as always, the journey there is as inspiring as the achievement itself.
The Abbott World Marathon Majors consist of six iconic races: New York, Boston, Chicago, Berlin, London, and Tokyo. Each marathon offers a unique experience that showcases the spirit and culture of the city. Runners who finish all six are rewarded with a special medal – and it’s a feat that many around the world strive to achieve.
• London Marathon: Known for its lively atmosphere and colourful crowds, the London Marathon is a spectacular event that turns the streets into a vibrant celebration. Runners are cheered on by enthusiastic spectators, making every mile a joyous experience.

• New York City Marathon: Spanning five boroughs, the New York City Marathon is a truly unique race. With millions of spectators lining the streets, runners are propelled forward by the chants of their names, creating an unforgettable energy that is unmatched anywhere else.
• Boston Marathon: A race that requires qualification, the Boston Marathon holds a special place in the hearts of many runners. The beautiful suburban streets of Hopkinton and the emotional journey through the historic city of Boston leave an indelible mark on every participant.
• Chicago Marathon: Known for its fast course and enthusiastic crowds, the Chicago Marathon is a favourite among runners. The supportive spectators and well-organised event make for an exhilarating race experience.

• Berlin Marathon: As the only European race in the Abbott Majors, the Berlin Marathon is steeped in history and emotion. The flat course allows runners to focus on their performance while soaking in the rich culture of this vibrant city.
• Tokyo Marathon: Completing the series in Tokyo was particularly challenging for Anna, who ran with a fractured knee and had to dig deep to make the finish.
She says while there were spectators watching, they were respectful and quiet which actually helped her find the focus required to keep going.

“Completing all six Abbott Majors is a dream come true, and I feel such an overwhelming sense of accomplishment,” Anna said.
Anna said running is normally her happy place but, after fracturing her knee while doing indoor surfing with her sons and husband, Tokyo was a very different experience.
“As a personal trainer I wouldn’t recommend doing what I did.
“But I had this goal to complete the majors and I wasn’t prepared to give it up.
“The pain was excruciating at times and it’s definitely the hardest of the 42 marathons I’ve done, and that includes the Great Wall of China Marathon which is considered the most physically demanding marathon in the world.”
